About this download
Real 1800s botanical art, restored for a moody modern wall. This set of 6 GOTHIC ROSE prints is built from antique botanical art by Pierre-Joseph Redouté, led by his celebrated roses (Les Roses, 1817–1824). Redouté was court painter to Marie Antoinette and Empress Joséphine. Every design is digitally restored and recolored into deep burgundy and plum on near-black, aged-paper backgrounds. Roses, a dusky peony, a midnight dahlia bouquet, and a wild rose with its hip are each finished with a pale crescent moon and antique-gold moths. Elegant enough to hang all year, and just right for autumn and Halloween.
Instant digital download. No physical item will be shipped.

Printing tips
- Matte or satin photo paper (190–250 gsm) gives the richest antique look. For 18x24 and larger, ask for matte poster or fine-art/giclée paper.
- Dark artwork prints best with color management on. Screens are backlit, so prints often look slightly darker than on screen. Do a test print or ask the lab for a proof.
- Colors may vary slightly between monitors, printers, and papers.

About the art
These designs are FableFile's digital restorations and recolorings of public-domain botanical art by Pierre-Joseph Redouté: four rose engravings from Les Roses (1817–1824), a tree peony plate from Traité des arbres et arbustes (1801–1819, New York Public Library collection), and a painting of a dahlia bouquet. They are composed with original moon and moth artwork and dark aged-paper backgrounds.
